Description

The Monsordo Bernardina estate in the 90s was the scene of significant ampelographic revolutions. Alongside the traditional varieties, a series of allochthonous cultivars were planted; the idea was to observe its potential and limits on a territory, the Piedmontese one, capable of strongly marking the expressiveness and yield in the glass. After a few years of vinification in purity, in 1997, the project of making a single wine took shape, assembling the varieties that had best acclimatized on the territory. From that moment Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah, elaborated separately, are aged in wood and then joined in different percentages depending on the vintage in the characteristic bottle that bears the name of the estate. Monsordo is a wine with a moderately modern character, capable of recounting the typical characteristics of the varieties that generate it and also strongly marked by the Langa terroir: a wine with an international style but with a distinctly Piedmontese accent.

Estate

Among the infinite rows of vines that run across the undulating hills of Piedmont are the four wineries of Ceretto, a wine and spirits company in its third generation. Founded by Riccardo Ceretto in 1937, the highly respected firm is now run by his sons, Bruno and Marcello (dubbed the “Barolo Brothers”) who in the 1960s began raising Ceretto’s profile and expanding its holdings. Now their sons and daughters are at the helm of the Langhe DOC company, which holds a total of 120 hectares of land that are the birthplace of an array of elegant still wines, sparkling wines, dessert wines, and spirits.
