In 1999, as Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc began its rise to global acclaim, the family planted its first vines. Today, Longfield spans 260 hectares (approx. 650 acres), with the majority dedicated to high-quality Sauvignon Blanc.

 

The Fifth Generation, Tiraki, was born from a dinner table conversation when the Hammond siblings moved back to the farm during the 2020 pandemic. Combining their distinct expertise, ranging from winemaking and marketing to sales and business strategy, the siblings and their childhood best friend took the reins to bring the fruit of their land to the world. Their connection is rooted in the landscape they grew up in, from building forts in the hay to skiing down the Wairau River (the inspiration for the Tiraki label).

 

The name Tiraki means "the clearing of the sky," a reflection of the sun-drenched haven found between Marlborough’s rugged mountain ridges. This clarity extends to their values: caring for the land, supporting the community, and staying connected to what’s real.

 

As New Zealand’s first B Corp-certified wine brand, Tiraki operates with a "land-first" philosophy. Their single-vineyard, low-intervention wines are a pure reflection of Longfield Farm’s unique terroir. Their commitment to the future is tangible: they donate 2% of their annual revenue to environmental and community charities, prioritize local suppliers, and actively increase biodiversity through native planting programs.

 

For the Hammonds, Tiraki is more than wine, it is a celebration of the place they call home and a commitment to keeping it vibrant for the generations to follow.

Named after the place of its creation, The Marlborist encapsulates the hard work, dedication, and deep reverence that their predecessors and fellow neighbors poured into establishing Marlborough as one of the premier winegrowing regions in the world.

Each bottle offers a window into the unique elements of Marlborough that the founders experienced on their journey to evolve and craft the region's very best. Drawing on years of experience with powerhouse vineyards that paved the way before them, these friends and co-founders have directed everything they’ve learned toward a single ambition: creating a benchmark wine for the region.

Mountains provide shelter from wild westerly winds, while ancient glacial soils and a cool, sunny climate create the perfect conditions for Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It is here that Alpine Rift carves a new path in refinement and elegance.

Friends Stuart Dudley, Richard Ellis, and David Nash each established themselves individually in the industry before coming together to create Alpine Rift, a Sauvignon Blanc that highlights the wine region they all love.

The fruit is sourced from exceptional sites across Marlborough’s Southern Valleys, Central Wairau Plains, and Awatere Valley. A portion is fermented in old oak barrels, bringing a new level of richness and complexity to this crisp, classic style.

Since 2013, the portfolio has been under the leadership of Chief Winemaker and General Manager Alexia Roberts. A dynamic industry leader with over 20 years of experience across Australia, France, and Italy, Alexia is a passionate advocate for McLaren Vale. Her winemaking philosophy focuses on crafting elegant, fruit-driven wines that reflect the unique terroir of our key estate sites: Penny’s Hill, Goss Corner, and Malpas Road. At the heart of the range is a dedication to unique varietal expressions, most notably the signature Shiraz Viognier and the popular Sparkling Shiraz. Our non-vintage Sparkling Shiraz is crafted using the traditional méthode champenoise.

As part of the Randall Wine Group, The Chook now benefits from access to 3,500 hectares of premium vineyards across South Australia’s finest grape-growing districts. This partnership has opened new winemaking opportunities while reinforcing our commitment to the land.

The Chook believes sustainability is a journey of continuous improvement. To reduce their environmental footprint, they utilize lightweight glass bottles across their entire range. Furthermore, they are proud to ensure that all red wines in their range are vegan-friendly, allowing their wines to be enjoyed by an even broader community of enthusiasts.
