Scott Harvey grew up savoring the rich flavors of his step-grandfather’s homemade wine in Amador County, crafted from the very grapes that adorned their family estate. Later in his life, as a foreign exchange student in Germany, he found himself once more encompassed by a family of winemakers. Fueled by his desire to delve deeper into the art of winemaking, Scott returned to Germany a few years later, seeking guidance to join winemaking school.
With winemaking coursing through is veins, Scott’s lifelong mission became clear – to create remarkable wines while nurturing Amador County into a world-class appellation. He built his illustrious career in the wine industry as a European trained winemaker and began his career in 1974. He is considered, amongst his other accomplishments, to be a kingpin in establishing Amador County in the Sierra foothills as an internationally respected growing area. Today, Harvey continues to produce exceptional wines under the Scott Harvey Wines label, using fruit from his estate vineyard and other top sites in the region. With the help of his wife Jana Harvey, a marketing expert with over 20 years of experience at the time, Scott-Harvey Wines became the pinnacle in helping set up the region. Scott remains a highly respected figure in the Amador County wine community and is known for his dedication to quality and his passion for winemaking.
