Picked a little earlier, the tannins are lively and well-structured with earth being the main focus. Dark fruits and stewed fruits with a well maintained freshness from the vineyards 1800 foot location. Vinified in 264 gallon round concrete tanks then aged 16 months in 70% new French oak barrels and 30% concrete tanks.
Estate
Located atop Mount Veeder in Napa mountains, Pym-Rae is a new wine from the Tesseron family (Pontet-Canet & Tesseron Cognac). Purchased in 2016, this magnificent estate was the former property of actor Robin Williams. The actor christened the vineyard with the middle names of his children “PYM” and “RAE”. Due to this touching story and in respect to the previous owners, the Tesseron’s have chosen to continue this name for the domain’s wine. Made from dry farmed, old vines Pym-Rae is available in extremely limited quantities.
The logo is a drawing of the Daily Planet globe which hangs from the ceiling in the entry hall at the estate. It was a gift from actor Christopher Reeve (Superman), who was grateful for Robin William’s help after his accident. The Tesseron family wanted to keep this symbol which represents the biodynamic philosophy that runs through the property.
