Tasting notes
Bright bristling acidity is stone-like in mineral on entry before building steam and power on the midpalate, which shows a richness of vanilla and oak. Pear and lavender flavors complete the picture of this Napa Chardonnay. Pair with lobster, roasted chicken, pumpkin and squash dishes.
Vineyards
Clos Anais is cultivated in the cooler regions of Napa Valley yielding small, concentrated berries. The growing season offered near picture-perfect growing conditions in a mixture of deep, well-drained gravelly loam and volcanic ash soils. This Chardonnay is carefully farmed with multiple clones to emphasize the fruit with wonderful acidity and balance.
Vinification
The fruit arrived at the winery in ideal condition and was carefully pressed and fermented in stainless steel fermentation tanks producing dynamic and complex wines. After fermentation the finished wines were aged in a mixture of new on used oak barrels to showcase the fruit yet add a round, rich mouthfeel to this classic Napa Valley Chardonnay.
