Appellation

Clarksburg:
Located on the Sacramento River, the Clarksburg AVA is profoundly defined by the maritime influence of the Sacramento Delta, and has been statistically identified as comparable to the best wine grape regions in California (Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles) in terms of degree days and day to evening temperatures. Cool evenings and warm days with limited summer fog allow Clarksburg to grow a diverse portfolio of premium grapes and wine. We’re known for a range of both red and white varietals that grow very well. Because there is significantly less probability of spring frost, we’re ensured relatively consistent crop loads. Less rainfall during critical growing stages ensures dependable quality, and less spring rainfall depletes ground water faster, stressing vines sooner to create more flavor.

Lodi:
Located directly east of San Francisco at the edge of the Sacramento River Delta, the Lodi appellation is noted for its classic Mediterranean climate and its distinctive sandy soils that provide the perfect environment for the production of world-class wines. Heat by day; cooling breezes at night, and plenty of water. These are the elements needed to grow good winegrapes. Add rich alluvium soils carried down from the Sierras and good becomes exceptional. Situated on a bend of the Mokelumne river, directly across from the Carquinez Straights on the outer reaches of the California delta—this is it: X marks the spot.

Description

The right soil, the right climate, the right people. This elegant Pinot Noir is produced from grapes sourced from California's best growing regions, 55% from Clarksburg and 45% from the Lodi appellation. Warm days and cool evening breezes create a uniquely Mediterranean climate perfectly suited to cultivating premium grapes. These vineyards are meticulously managed by multi-generational family grape growers. They farm with a commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices, which results in a wine that is both complex and very food friendly.
