Description
Situated at the heart of the great wines of the Côte de Nuits, the Charmes-Chambertin is one of the most famous Grands Crus. Located on a hillside, the vineyard is optimally placed for grape-growing and is among those classic Burgundy terroirs. Many of the best sites have outstanding layers of clay and limestone deposits that make for finely concentrated and structured wine. Its terroir is highly complex which creates a wine that is supple and smooth with a wonderful rich structure. This wine should be kept for several years to allow it to demonstrate its potential and refinement.
Tasting notes
Gevrey-Chambertin's iconic Grand Crus are known for their powerful, masculine style, complexity and intensity. The wine has a complex scent of cherries, violets, strawberries, vanilla and forest bottoms with mineral touches. Delicious pure taste of dense dark berry fruit with silky tannins. A Grand Cru with great intensity and finesse.
Vinification
After a short cold maceration gives the wines an extra dimension of fruit, they are aged in carefully selected French oak barrels of Allier and Nevers forest wood made by Radoux and Berthomieu, two of the very best coopers. Wines are aged in barrels of varying age and toast and then blended in order to achieve optimum balance and complexity.
