Famille Roux - Rully Les Agnieres 2019
Tasting notes
This wine is gold flecked with green, and the gold deepens with age. It is redolent with superb aromas of hedgerow flowers (acacia, may, honeysuckle, and a very delicate elderflower) as well as violet, lemon, white peach or flint. Time brings out honey, quince, and dried fruits. Indeed, this wine is full of fruit, which on the palate is lively and well-rounded, meaty and long. Handpicked harvest. Traditional fermentation in oak barrels (15-20% new casks). Maturation during 17-19 months in cellar for ageing, stored in barrels. 100% Chardonnay
Description
Rully was granted its AOC in 1939 and now produces red wines (Pinot Noir) and white wines (Chardonnay) with both village and Premier Cru appellations. Subtle differences in the wines are due to differences in soil, exposure and altitude, all of which vary considerably hereabouts. At heights of 230-300 metres, the hill-slopes produce wines which can compete with the best wines of the nearby Côte de Beaune.
Estate
Founded in 1885, Domaine Roux is currently operated by the 4th and 5th generation of the Roux family. With vineyard holdings throughout the Côte d'Or, the Domaine is situated in the Saint Aubin village of the Côte de Beaune. This historic property maintains one of the most incredible libraries of older vintages. No one in Burgundy has such an impressive collection of verticals from such a diverse array of villages, single vineyards and Premier Cru wines.
