Les Granges
The Baron Edmond de Rothschild's vineyards are spread on a total area of over 130 hectares located in the south of Medoc (Moulis and Listrac-Medoc) distributed with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are handpicked over a large part of the vineyard (machine harvested on the rest when a faster response is necessary). ln an ongoing effort to comply with our high quality exigency, the entire harvest is hand selected on sorting tables prior to being transferred into the fermentation tanks (stainless steel tanks fitted with temperature The entire vineyard was replanted after its purchase by Baron control system). Edmond de Rothschild (from 1973 for chateau Clarke and Malmaison, 1979 for chateau Peyre-Lebade). The clay and
limestone soils have been completely drained. The plantation density is 6600 feet per hectare of vines. After fermentation and extensive maceration, this wine is carefully aged into second fill barrels during twelve months. "Les Granges" is the second wine of the three famous estates, chateau
Clarke, Malmaison, and Peyre-Lebade. The best care and attention is given to quality at each step of the making of this wine from the vineyard until the final bottling.
