2004 vintage
With powerful, but firm, tannins this vintage possesses all the classic characteristics of a Fine Bordeaux wine.
In 2004, we reached a further stage in understanding the terroir of our estate thanks to new pedological excavations carried out on the 53 plots of the vineyard. This research was combined with measurements to assess hydrous potential; this information allows us to improve quality in certain sectors of the vineyard and therefore control the vines’ growth more efficiently.

First impressions during maturation
This wine has wonderful structure and is suitable for many years of ageing. It is a classic Bordeaux, a well- balanced wine: the combination between acidity, alcohol and tannin brings freshness on the palate, but this wine will require several years of bottle-ageing before it fully expresses all its delicacy.
The growth cycle
Budburst started at the beginning of April and was followed by consistent flowering on around 5th June. Veraison began towards the beginning of August, with ripening starting slowly due to unsettled weather conditions. Drastic green harvests were at times necessary to reduce the load of grapes per vine stock. September was hot and dry and these conditions produced grapes of tremendous quality.
The harvests
They began on 28th September with excellent weather and continued until 11th October. The grapes’ balance between sugar and acidity was fairly typical. Yields: 42 hectolitres per hectare.
Wine-making
Thanks to green harvests to restrict yields, the grapes selected were vinified carefully, taking care to preserve the qualities of fruit and structure, with macerations lasting 25 days on average. A plot-by-plot management of our vineyard enabled us to make each batch of wine individually according to its own full potential.
