Product Ratings
Decanter 93pt

Elegant yet muscular Reserva, with assertive edges softened by herbal and even balsamic freshness. Sage, thyme and tarragon mingle over prune and fig. Lovely fluidity throughout. Eucalyptus and mint provide intense fragrant lift while cardamom and nutmeg add lingering spicy freshness. Predominantly Tempranillo with small proportions of Garnacha and Mazuelo, from vines averaging 30-40 years in age in sites in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. Fermentation was in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and 22 months ageing in 'hybrid' barrels consisting of American oak staves and French oak heads, of which about 25% were new, then a further 22 months in bottle before release.

James Suckling 91pt

Spiced plums, dark cherries and wet earth funk with some hazelnuts and chocolate. Juicy and firm with medium body and nicely chewy tannins. Long finish. Drink from 2026.

Vinous Media 91pt

The 2019 Reserva Lan is Tempranillo with 8% Mazuelo and 3% Garnacha from Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. It opens with resin, vanilla and pine, alongside an exotic meaty nuance thanks to a touch of advanced ripeness. Dry, with grip and a coarse-grained texture, there's also a silky note that rounds out the edges. The concentrated finish reflects the warm vintage.

Wine Spectator 91pt

Ripe black cherry and black plum fruit flavors are laced with lavish hints of vanilla, tar and cedar in this dark, deep red, animated by mandarin orange peel acidity. The lingering finish, trimmed by fine, taut tannins, offers medicinal herb and mineral details. Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano. Drink now through 2035.
