Product Ratings
Jeb Dunnuck 93pt

From the Latin word meaning little hammer, the 2023 Malleolus is also named for a small estate vineyard. The family was one of the first in the region to break with the meaning of Crianza, Reserva, etc. with this wine. Herbal, silky, with bold black fruit and sweet tannins, it's a full-bodied, highly expressive wine with spicy balsamic richness and well-integrated oak.

James Suckling 93pt

Fresh and expressive, with blackberries and blueberries layered with a spicy touch. Full bodied and succulent, with generous fruit, good balance and firm, polished tannins. Drink or hold.

Vinous Media 93pt

The 2023 Malleolus is 100% Tempranillo from Pesquera de Duero, aged 18 months in 500-liter French oak barrels. Ripe black fruit and elevage notes define the nose, joined by hints of waffle and dried herbs in a style that leans toward richness and polish. The palate is broad and indulgent. It carries considerable energy for the warm 2023 vintage, while the oak leaves a clear imprint through the finish. A modern Ribera, shaped as much by fruit as by elevage.
