Intermittent picking due to unsettled weather and a higher botrytis pressure than usual. The accuracy and agility in taking decisions where crucial and clearly made the difference.

Vinification

Extremely slow and gentle to extract the best tannins our 2013 Tempranillo can provide. Pigeages, long macerations (21 to 26 days long) and 12 months ageing in French oak on average (15% new) draw a huge personality Alonso del Yerro.

Vintage

A cool and rainy spring resulted in a flowering date later than usual and set the stone of a cold character vintage. However, the low yields and a thoroughly care of the vineyard allowed us to pick the grapes at the precise ripening period. A delicate year in which more than ever, the good terroirs have the last word.

Terroir

The diversity of soils, placed over 800m of altitude and all of them very chalky from the red clay typical of Ribera to the gravel sands, results in the complexity and style of the Alonso del Yerro.
