Poggio al Casone - La Cattura 2015
Description
The township of Crespina covers the first prominences of the Tuscan foothills. This land of beauty and tranquility was chosen in the XV century as the summer residence of the noble families of Pisa, Leghorn and Florence. That is how the preserves and the hunting pavilions were born, transformed in the XVIII century into comfortable and organized villa-farms where the pleasures and the flavors of the countrylife could be enjoyed. The Chianti Superiore "Poggio al Casone" is obtained from a strict selection of Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes produced in "Poggio al Casone" Estate owned by the Castellani family.
Tasting notes
Purple ruby color, on the nose it displays notes of red berries, blackberry and hints of white pepper; in the mouth it is medium bodied, fresh and velvety with firm yet well integrated tannins.
The wine
"La Cattura" is the newly born wine from Poggio al Casone Estate, noted for great success of its "classic" Chianti Superiore. This Tuscan Cru has already received great appreciation for its originality and freshness. It stands out with positive judgement from the wine-tasting commision organized by the Province of Pisa to rate the wines that aspire to the new DOC Terre di Pisa. This wine's name being inspired by the annual capture of wild hares bred in the natural setting of the vineyards, is the expression of an organic agriculture that has renounced all products that are damaging to nature, rediscovering the great values on an antique vine growing process.
