Jeb Dunnuck 94pt

The 2021 Etna Rosso Contrada Fragore is pure, compact, and chiseled, with bold notes of pure cherries, blood orange, laurel, cinnamon, and cedar. Medium-bodied, it has a compact structure, with refreshing acidity and a more angular, Nebbiolo-like character. It's a powerful wine with the ability to age a decade or more.

James Suckling 93pt

Precise wine with stony mineral style. On the nose it shows dried cherries, smoky tones and iodine depth. Supple fruit on the palate with medium-bodied, firm dusty tannins and moderate to refreshing acidity. Good licorice and smoky depth of graphite. Drink or hold.

Vinous Media 94pt

Darkly floral and intense, the 2021 Etna Rosso Fragore smolders up with an array of crushed stones and mentholated herbs, giving way to dried black cherries and exotic spices. This is silken and refined with depths of tart red fruits carried across a wave of zesty acidity as fine-grained tannins slowly saturate toward the close. Grippy and long, the 2021 finishes with ample structure.

Wine Enthusiast 93pt

The nose has the simultaneously sweet and energizing feel of vanilla, clove, star anise, licorice, cardamom and cherry blossom, while the palate both complements and balances with a leading element of warm, spicy citrus, before darker berries burst on the finish. Tannins are firm but dusty.

Wine Spectator 91pt

A sleek red, well-meshed and fresh, this weaves notes of dried raspberry and plum sauce with accents of espresso, red licorice and dried thyme. Chalky tannins are firm and chewy on the minerally finish. Nerello Mascalese.
