Product Ratings
James Suckling 94pt

A bright Barolo with red cherries and raspberries with subtle brick notes and dried aromatic herbs. The medium-bodied palate is firm and chewy upfront, but gradually resolves towards the finish. The fruit presents lots of clarity and precision at the red end of the spectrum. A joy to taste, but wait at least three years to enjoy it at its best.

by James Suckling, 2025
Vinous Media 92pt

The 2021 Barolo is a super-classic, finely cut wine. A Barolo of real vibrancy, the 2021 bristles with energy. The straight Barolo is built on a core of fruit from the lower slopes of Brunate plus smaller pieces from the other sites. In 2021, it is a total delight. Orange peel, cinnamon, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco slowly fade on the close.

Wine Spectator 92pt

A taut red, this offers strawberry, cherry, earth and underbrush flavors backed by a dense, linear structure. Remains fresh and lingers nicely on the finish.

Estate

Ceretto is a family estate based in Alba, in the heart of the Langhe, founded in the 1930s by Riccardo Ceretto. In the 1960s and 1970s his sons Bruno and Marcello acquired some of the finest crus of the area, including Bricco Rocche, Brunate and Prapo in Barolo and Asili and Bernadot in Barbaresco. Now led by the third generation of the family, Ceretto farms its vineyards organically and crafts wines that express the character of each site.

Description

Barolo was originally conceived as a blend, bringing different nuances together in a single direction, and the most traditional producers have always put the harmony of the whole ahead of the individual vineyard. Following this tradition, Ceretto's Barolo unites the two faces of the appellation in one glass: the gentler side of the northern villages and the more austere side of the lands facing the Mediterranean. Sourced from Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, La Morra, Monforte d'Alba and Serralunga d'Alba, it is a rich, powerful and multifaceted wine that shows its character in youth and has the drive to mature well.
