Tasting notes
This open and fruity wine just needs a nudge to be ready to drink. Its red fruits, acidity and soft texture are ripe and fruity, with a crisp, juicy aftertaste.
History
Château de Santenay is one of Burgundy’s largest wine domaines. Its prestigious heritage, which comprises a remarkable Château with a glazed tile roof and 90 hectares of vineyards, is the product of a time-old legacy that is closely tied to the history of the Burgundy wine region. This remarkable château, with its varnished tiles, is a spectacular piece of heritage closely tied to the region’s history. Its vineyards are split between the Côte d’Or and Côte Chalonnaise. The diversity of its ‘climats’ results in a rich palette of wines with distinctive styles that reflect the subtleties of the Burgundy varietals.
Vineyard
The Bourgogne Pinot Noir Vieilles Vignes comes from a selection of several climates located on the Côte Chalonnaise. They have been chosen for their south-eastern exposure and their location in the middle of the hillside in order to obtain optimal maturity and a lot of complexity.
The soils are rich in red clays with a marked presence of limestone. This composition gives the wine a lot of power and depth.
The vineyard’s good cultural practices allow us to be certified "Quality France" and "Terra Vitis". Working the soil by plowing, permanent grassing and the removal of herbicides ensure an active biological life of the soil. Leaf stripping and green harvesting allow yields to be controlled and the plant to be in good health through aeration of the bunches
Vinification
Cold soaked for 7 days. Temperature Controlled fermentation - duration 12/14 days. Punch down and pump over allow a gentle extraction and thrust. We are looking for the complete extraction of the color and the strong presence of the most elegant tannins. Aged in oak cask.
