Olives, peaches, currants and cocoa on the nose of this elegant and creamy red. It's silky and medium- to full-bodied with chalky tannins. A little dusty at the end with walnut notes.

The 2022 Paveil de Luze is gorgeous. There's a bit more freshness and energy here these days, along with less new oak and a greater emphasis on Cabernet Sauvignon. All of those choices contribute to a wine that is super-expressive and distinctive right out of the gate. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, menthol, new leather and spice build as this pliant, inviting Margaux shows off its considerable charms. Terrific.

Crafted from vines planted on Brane's gravelly plateau, the 2022 Paveil de Luze bursts from the glass with aromas of rose, lilac, cassis, crushed mint and spices. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and rich, it has a fleshy core of fruit wrapped by velvety tannins and a long, penetrating and perfumed finish. This blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot is a real success, meeting expectations from the en primeur tastings.

The estate, close to many of the classed growth Margaux chateaus, has produced a firmly structured wine. It is concentrated as well as juicy. The toast and spice aroma and rich fruits and tannins promise some good aging.
