Jeb Dunnuck 91pt

A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot that was brought up in 40% new oak, the 2020 Chateau Paveil De Luze has a medium-bodied, wonderfully textured, balanced style carrying ample red and black currant-like fruits, notes of dried tobacco, lead pencil and chocolate, fine tannins, and outstanding length. It has 15+ years of prime drinking ahead of it.

James Suckling 91pt

Blackcurrant, walnut, mushroom, and citrus aromas follow through to a medium body with fine tannins. Linear finish. Crunchy acidity.

Vinous Media 92pt

The 2020 Paveil de Luze has a cohesive, ripe and opulent bouquet that manages to retain control, revealing notes of black cherries, dates and marmalade. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, all counterbalanced by a fine bead of acidity. There's plenty of substance and a spicy finish—what this lacks in finesse, it makes up for in gusto. Give it time. This is a hidden gem.

Wine Advocate 92pt

The 2020 Paveil de Luze is a strong effort from this estate, routinely one of the classiest non-classified growths of the Medoc. Wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, blackberries, licorice, rose petals and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, framed by powdery tannins that assert themselves with a touch of youthful grip on the finish. This will require a bit more patience than the 2019, but it's just as good.
