From the village of Soussans in the northern part of the Margaux appellation, the wine is spicy, juicy with touches of toast as well as ripe black fruits. That makes it a little young, needing to soften and integrate the wood.

Estate

Chateau du Grand Soussans is the second wine of the beautiful Chateay Tayac, located in the city of Soussans, Margaux AOC. The Portet family owns the Chateau since 4 generations and is deeply involved into the preservation of vineyard ecosystem and development of natural production. Guy Portet applies the Cousinie method for 20 years.

Vinification

Manual and mechanical harvest, traditional winemaking in stainless still and concrete tanks. Vatting for 28 days and fermentation for 7-10 days at controlled temperature (28C). Cold maceration before fermentation. Ageing for 12 months in French and US barrels (40% new barrels).
