Chateau Tour du Haut-Moulin is located in the commune of Cussac-Fort-Medoc, on the prestigious left bank of the Gironde estuary. The vineyard parcels surround the winery and extend across the classic alluvial terraces characteristic of the Medoc appellation. The estate benefits from a mosaic of soils that contributes to both complexity and balance in the wines. The higher terraces are composed of deep Garonne gravels, offering excellent drainage and heat retention, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. Mid-slope parcels feature mixed gravel and sandy soils, while lower sections closer to the estuary contain clay-limestone substrates capable of preserving moisture during warmer vintages. The proximity of the Gironde estuary plays a fundamental climatic role. Acting as a natural thermal regulator, it moderates temperature extremes, reduces frost risk and supports slow, even ripening throughout the growing season. This stable environment allows for consistent phenolic maturity and elegant tannin development while preserving freshness and balance. The geology of the Médoc is the result of ancient fluvial and marine activity. Over millions of years, sediments carried by the Garonne River and periodic flooding created successive layers of gravel, sand, clay, pebbles and stones, shaping the renowned Médoc terraces seen today. This diversity of soils encourages parcel-by-parcel vineyard management and allows each grape variety to express itself according to its specific environment. The combination of geology, hydrology and climate creates ideal growing conditions where the vines are both challenged and naturally supported, producing wines with structure, depth, finesse and aging potential.

Established in 1870, Château Tour du Haut-Moulin was managed by the Cazaux-Poitou family for six generations. In 2024, the estate entered a new chapter with its acquisition by Tzora Vineyards and Flam Winery, two leading producers from Israel’s Judean Hills region. This new partnership is driven by a shared ambition: to reveal the full potential of the estate while preserving the authenticity, heritage and identity that have defined Château Tour du Haut-Moulin for over 150 years. Today, the property combines traditional Médoc expertise with a renewed vision focused on precision viticulture, terroir expression and long-term quality.
