James Suckling 91-92pt

Medium to full body, with spice and dark fruits, round, with fine-grained tannins that add definition along with a touch of freshness on the finish.

by James Suckling, 2026

Estate

Located in the heart of the Graves appellation, Château Cantalot is planted on the region’s renowned alluvial gravel terraces, composed of red gravels and clay. The vineyard is carefully managed through sustainable soil practices including natural grass cover, green manure and manual vineyard work, producing an elegant, fresh and well-structured Graves.

Terroir

Alluvial red gravel terraces with 15–20% clay.

Harvest

Mechanical harvesting with grape sorting.

Vinification

Cold prefermentation maceration at 10°C followed by low-temperature alcoholic fermentation with gentle extraction. Three to four weeks of maceration before malolactic fermentation and ageing in stainless-steel vats to preserve freshness and fruit expression.

Tasting Notes

This Graves wine charms with aromas of red fruits and blackberry, complemented by a delicate spicy touch. The palate is smooth, fruity and well balanced, making it an ideal pairing for grilled meats or duck breast.

Food Pairing

Excellent with roasted poultry or hard cheeses.
