The Aguaribay is an emblematic tree of the Mendoza region, perfectly adapted to its extreme conditions and high altitudes. It is here that the estates Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards are planted. This elegant wine expresses layers of balanced fruit, minerality and velvety tannins. Very food friend but also perfect on its own.
Description
The Aguaribay is a typical and emblematic tree of the Mendoza region, perfectly adapted to conditions of medium altitude of the Andes, it is frequently found at the foothills of this majestic mountain range. Related to Pepper tree family, this evergreen tree is highly recognizable for the stylish thin leaves, jagged, and drooping elegantly. At the foot of the Andes, 120 km south of Mendoza, on the ground where grows the Aguaribay tree, Baron Edmond de Rothschild planted their vineyard.
Estate
Located near the village of Vista Flores and produced with grapes from the Flechas de los Andes vineyard that occupies more than 100 hectares in the Andean foothills. The first vines were planted in 1999 and they are quite dense for Argentina (5,500 vines per hectare).
The Malbec grapes seem to have found their ideal location on these plots of rocks, granite pebbles and alluvial gravels perched at 1,100 meters above sea level. They are joined by plots of Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The hot, dry climate is characterized as semi-arid continental and features pronounced temperature fluctuations between day and night and across seasons. These mid-altitude conditions are highly conducive to the ripening of red grapes and, more particularly, of Malbec grapes.
Aguaribay Malbec exhibits roasted notes, red fruits and spice. It is soft and smooth, easy to drink and will pair excellently with everything from BBQ to pizza night!
