Speymhor

Glasgow Whisky began with a clean, fresh page in October 2007 when founding partners Graham Taylor and Stuart Hendry launched the company. Graham started in the industry in August 1978, literally rolling barrels and working his way through every facet of blending and bottling before moving into distillery management and sales.

Stuart, a Chartered Accountant by training, joined the Scotch whisky trade in the early 1990s and has spent virtually his entire professional career becoming one of the industry's most respected figures. In 2015, they welcomed Rory Taylor, marking the arrival of the next generation.

Between them, Graham and Stuart have spent over 70 years amassing a formidable mastery of Scotch Whisky, tasting thousands of samples across more than seven decades. To share this lifelong passion with the world, they created Speymhor, an extraordinary collection of Scotland’s finest Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. Granted its UK trademark in 2008, the range was designed not only to satisfy the most demanding connoisseurs, but also to welcome the newest whisky drinkers.

The name itself holds deep personal significance. As our palates and senses mature over the years, we naturally seek out the specific tastes and characters that bring us the greatest pleasure. For Graham, the loveliest Single Malts are invariably found within the lush, fertile valley of the River Spey. If there is a heaven for whisky, it is the Highlands of Scotland. At its very heart lies the breathtaking Speyside region, where the majority of the aged Speymhor Collection is sourced. In Gaelic, the ancient language of the Scots, "mhor" means big, large, or great, often indicating something of immense significance. Bound by a shared love for the region, the founders combined "Spey" and "mhor" and Speymhor was born.

By law, all Scotch Whisky must be aged for a minimum of three years in oak casks under 700 liters. Because Scotch matures only in the wood, never in the bottle like wine, the age declared on each Speymhor label is a guarantee of time. If a Single Malt is labeled as 30 Years Old, it means every single drop inside has rested patiently in an oak cask for three decades or more. To honor this vital part of the process, an illustration of an oak cask proudly adorns the bottom of every label.
