Sella & Mosca

Found in the unique area of Alghero, Sardinia, lies the immense estate of Sella & Mosca. Measuring 650 hectares of Mediterranean scrub and vineyards, it is listed as one of the biggest estates in Europe.

More than a century ago, two Piedmontese adventurers, Mr. Sella, an engineer, and Mr. Mosca, a lawyer, looked at the uncultivated land and saw a vision for the future.

In 1899, the recovery of this land began, giving way to the beauty, aromas, and colors of the grapes this region became synonymous with. Decades of work to free the soil and give it new life, culminating in the vintages we know and love today. Beyond their Alghero estate, Sella & Mosca also cultivate in two other notable wine-growing regions. In Berchiddeddu, Gallura, the tenacious Vermentino grape grows between granite and Mediterranean scrub. In Giba, Sulcis, a land between sand and sea, the Carignano grape thrives, and in the main Alghero estate, the Cannonau grape thrives, a staple of the region.

On the estate lies a site for rootstock grafting and forcing, the wineries, workers' housing, an elementary school, and a chapel; an entire community for those who share the passion and pride of winegrowing in the region. This community focuses on research and innovation, putting environmental protection and knowledge at the forefront. There, with work, commitment, passion, and constant attention, Sella & Mosca grapes are nurtured, and the wines produced.
