Winery Technical Data
This is a full-bodied wine, with a wonderfully integrated and polished tannin structure. It delivers great fragrance and finesse, and will show even more of its generosity with time. Starting with the 1995 vintage, the laws for obtaining the D.O.C.G. appellation of Brunello di Montalcino reduced the
minimum aging period in wood from three to two years, and introduced a minimum aging in the bottle of four months. Nonetheless we at Poggio Antico prefer to make our “classic” Brunello with the traditional method, refining it for three years in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by at least twelve months in the bottle prior to release (we feel that four months in the bottle are not sufficient to display a Brunello's bouquet).
