Technical Details

Description

The 2024 growing season was characterized by favorable conditions that produced a classic vintage. A wet winter provided ample soil moisture, setting a solid foundation for the vines. Spring temperatures were cooler than average, with budbreak occurring in early to mid April, followed by flowering during a fairly typical window in mid-June with good weather at most sites, leading to solid but balanced fruitset. The summer months featured balmy sunny days with highs in the low to mid-70s, allowing for steady ripening without impacts from extreme heat events. After a brief heat spike in early September, temperatures quickly turned cool and generally dry for the balance of September and October, preserving more acidity than many recent vintages and contributing to the development of complex flavors. The extended hang time with slow and steady sugar accumulation gave us full physiological maturity paired with great energy, and we feel that the 2024 vintage will be a standout, with wines of great complexity and quality that will drink well now and continue to evolve.

Estate

For over thirty years, Terrebone Estate has been committed to sustainably crafting wines that showcase the world class terroir of the Willamette Valley. Our Pinot Gris offers vibrant flavors of heirloom apple, bright lemon zest, white peach, and a hint of almond.

Harvest

Individual lots of Pinot Gris grapes were pressed and fermented separately at low temperatures to ensure freshness and aromatic intensity. Fermentation was halted to retain floral notes and fresh fruit character. Brief lees contact contributed richness and mouthfeel, helping build complexity and balance. Harvested September 24th through October 18th.

Tasting notes

Fresh, pale straw in the glass, showing key lime, pear, and kiwi accented by honeysuckle, a touch of warm brioche, and a hint of lemon meringue; the palate follows in a dry, focused line, citrus and orchard fruit carrying floral lift into a clean, persistent mineral finish.

Terroir

A carefully selected blend from quality sites offers aromatic complexity and finesse. Crafted from thoughtfully chosen vineyards that highlight the diverse characteristics of the Willamette Valley, we blend individually fermented lots to craft a wine of beauty and grace.
