The vintage
The 2014 growing season was just about as good as it gets. Some saying it could be the best season in more than a decade, which we agree with! The summer's consistently hot days were followed by warm nights and just the right amount of sprinkling rain. The higher than average overnight lows allowed grapes to mature faster without putting stress on the vines, which lets the grapes come together in balance and flavor to produce an excellent wine. Yields are higher than normal and quality of fruit is very high. All fruit was hand harvested from September 12th to October 14th, 2014.
The source
Grapes for this cuvee are sourced from the Foley Family Estate in the Dundee Hills, our Doe Ridge Estate in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, and hand selected fruit from other quality vineyards in the Willamette Valley.
The wine
On the nose the 2014 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir is swarming with aromas of Rainier Cherry, white pepper, and pine. The palate is juicy with flavors of espresso cherry pie, and sweet sandalwood on the finish. This medium bodied Pinot will pair perfectly with baked brie served with warm cherry jam and fresh baked French bread.
