Cooperage
Samantha's Sauvignon Blanc was barrel fermented in our wine caves using 100% native yeast. The wine was then aged six months sur lie for additional
texture and complexity in 30% French oak (10% new, 20% seasoned), 30% stainless steel, and 30% cement egg. Our Sauvignon Blanc was then bottled
unfiltered in April 2016.
Our thoughts
On the nose, this 2015 Samantha's Sauvignon Blanc draws you in with vibrant notes of citrus zest, honeysuckle and vanilla bean. Barrel fermented to add complexity and depth of flavor, there is richness and balance immediately apparent on the palate. Its flavors of mandarin, white peach, and orange blossom are balanced by a clean minerality for a rich and lingering finish.
Vintage and Estate notes
It was a warmer than average year in the Alexander Valley for the 2015 vintage. August was fairly moderate, with a bit of a spike in temperature
by early September when we decided to pick this block. Yields were down a little, but the fruit was high quality and concentrated. Overall, the fruit
came in nicely delivering wines of complexity and elegance.
