Firestone - Santa Ynez Valley - Sauvignon Blanc 2017

Estate

Founded in 1972, Firestone was the first major estate winery to sink roots in the Santa Ynez Valley. The winery’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean, a mere 26 miles to the west, ensures a relatively mild and arid climate throughout the year. The moderate weather and complex, rocky soils make this a perfect setting for our 340 acres of Bordeaux, Rhone and Burgundian varieties.

Tasting Notes

This clean, refreshing wine displays aromas of Ruby Red Grapefruit and a hint of boxwood. Crisp refreshing flavors of Meyer lemon and Key lime are coupled with bright crisp acidity followed by a hint of minerality on the finish.

Vinification

Early budbreak followed by an extremely mild spring and summer season, perfect conditions for longer hang time and more intense flavor development. Harvest kicked off with our first pick on August 31 and extended to October 27th. All of our fruit is harvested in cool temperatures to ensure cold fruit at pressing. Fermenting and aging in stainless steel allows the integrity of the fruit to shine with minimal manipulation.
