The 2021 Cabernet Franc Upper Bowl Vineyard is one of the most distinctive wines in the Keenan range. Franc aromatics and mountain tension meld together to yield a wine of tremendous nuance and character. Orange peel, white pepper, bright red-toned fruit and dried rose petal are some of the many notes that come alive in the glass. What a pretty and expressive wine this is.

Technical Details

Harvest

This wine was produced exclusively from grapes grown on the Keenan Estate located in Napa Valley's Spring Mountain District. Our two blocks of Cabernet Franc were harvested on September 30th and October 11th, 2019. The fruit was hand-picked then, after de-stemming, the must was inoculated with the Montrachet yeast and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine aged in French and American oak barrels for twenty months.

Tasting notes

"Freakishly good" is how we have come to describe this single vineyard Cabernet Franc from our highest elevation vineyard (approx. 2000') aptly names the "Upper Bowl". Cabernet Franc is simply not supposed to be this delicious. Enjoy now or decades from now.
