The Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a rich, boisterous wine. Black cherry, mocha, espresso, licorice and cloves give this exuberant Cabernet tons of immediacy. All the elements are very nicely balanced.

Hoopes's entry-level 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon includes 8% Malbec, and while most of the fruit comes from Oakville, the assemblage includes lots from Carneros, Yountville and Saint Helena. Hints of menthol and vanilla join ripe cherries on the nose, while the vibrant, medium to full-bodied palate showcases silky tannins that turn just a little drying and dusty on the finish. It's not overly rich or concentrated, but it's not showing any signs of the vintage's heat either. It's a super value.
