Robert Parker 94
Scents of cherries, cassis, cedar and vanilla emerge on the nose of the 2017 Ultimatum Cabernet Sauvignon Double Rock. While perhaps not as obvious or flashy as the Plus bottling from Game Ranch, this is more dense and suave, tighter knit and more harmonious, the layers of cherry and cassis fruit unfurling steadily on the long, lingering finish, framed by taut acids and silky tannins.

Grapes from the two-acre block are from 30 year old vines producing tiny berries in loose clusters. The small production 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is statuesque and well structured, with spiced cedar and blueberry licorice. Wildflowers bloom from sweet earth.

Vineyard
The name Double Rock comes
from the way we collect the
stones and place them under
the vines to make it easier to
walk the rows during the
season. Located midway
between Highway 29 and the
famed Silverado Trail, our
vineyard lies in the heart of
Napa Valley with prestigious
neighbors on all sides.
This 2-acre block planted in 1988 steep above Game Ranch is a singular knoll within the valley that faces north by northwest.
It is Farmed by hand organically with 30-year-old vines that have loose clusters, tiny berries and high skin-to-pulp ratio.
