Reviews

James Suckling 91

Red berries, plums, black pepper, cola and toasted notes on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Round and fruity with a vivid, spicy finish. Vegan.

by JS, James Suckling , 2022

Wine Enthusiast 90

Bright red-violet to the eye, this wine offers a bouquet of black plums, cassis and olive tapenade. It is soft on the palate, with satiny tannins and flavors of pomegranate, raspberry, coffee bean, mint and violet that evaporate into a cooling finish.

Technical Details

Estate

Bodega El Angosto belongs to the Chamber family and is located in the Finca Santa Rosa, inside an old bodega from the nineteenth century. The vineyards are located on two farms: Santa Rosa and El Angosto. The vineyards are nestled in hillside soils, calcareous and poor in organic matter. The goal of Bodega El Angosto is to develop Mediterranean wines, elegant and concentrated, while respecting the land.

Tasting notes

Intense ruby color with purple reflections. Nose aromas of fresh red fruit, flowers and light toasted aromas stand out on the nose. The palate is broad, round and tasty. Best served accompanying pasta in Bolognese sauce, grilled vegetables, roasted chicken with aromatic herbs, grilled fish, ham and cold cuts, cured hard cheese.

Vineyard

The vineyards are located in Valencia at an altitude of 1800 feet on clay, limestone soils with an average vine age of 20 years. The continental climate is softened by the Mediterranean influence, with an average annual temperature of 59 degrees and a Mediterranean type rainfall regime.

Vinification

The grapes are hand-picked by hand from September to the middle of October. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wines are aged for 4 months in new French oak barrel ranging from 225 and 500 liters of capacity, ending its aging in large French oak vats and bottle aging for at least 2 months.
