Wine Enthusiast 91pt

Focused aromas of black raspberry and cherry cola spice open on the nose along with hints of black tea and hay. The juicy palate sings with ripe fruit and youthful tannins that carry the finish. Pair with short rib, brisket, and roasted portobello mushroom.

Estate

What drives us in our work is the desire to showcase the values and potential of a land that we love and for which we feel pride and responsibility.

Our desire to surpass ourselves every day, our commitment to traditional vine-growing methods, and the care and attention we show for the land that delivers us its fruits, are an integral part of our way of life.

In Altos de Luzon, we pay homage to the special character of the Jumilla land. Its harsh climate and average altitude of 650 metres bring about dry and rugged conditions. In these lands, the Monastrell grape finds its inspiration and its reason for being. This is where it excels and performs at its optimal level. Jumilla's wine-growing history, like its people, is defined by this landscape: on the outside rough and hardy, but inside full of beauty and riches.

Terroir

100% Monastrell organic: The grapes are sourced from the Melera plot, a dry-farmed, 43-year-old bushvine vineyard. Located in La Venta del Puerto at 675m altitude, with very poor, sandy soils, it produces small, highly concentrated grapes with good acidity.

Harvest

The grapes are picked by hand in 10-15kg harvesting crates. After being carefully conveyed to the cellars, the bunches are kept in a cold room for 24 hours at 6C. The fruit is then sorted in order to select the finest berries and transferred to a fermentation vat for vinification.

Vinification

The fermentation takes place over a period of 8 to 10 days at a maximum temperature of around 24/26 C.

Ageing

12 months in American and French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

Deep ruby red in color with garnet reflections, its aromas are expressive and intense, featuring notes of red and black fruits, sweet spices, and subtle hints from aging. On the palate, it is lively with a vibrant freshness that reflects the vintage, supported by its fruity character. Smooth and fresh when tasting, with fine tannins and a persistent finish that reveals its complexity. A unique red wine that conveys our terroir and philosophy.
