Reviews
Wine Spectator 89
Silky-tasting, with very fresh and vibrant flavors of dark plum, chocolate and spice. The lush finish is supple and refined.

Technical Details
Estate
One of the oldest port houses, Quinta do Noval is also arguably the greatest. It is unique among top port houses in that most of its ports are made from estate-grown fruit and, notably, all of the vintage Noval wines are from the single Quinta do Noval vineyard. And it is difficult to discuss Noval with mentioning Nacional, the legendary vintage port made from a 6 acre parcel of ungrafted vines, and the most collectible and sought after port in the world. In the early 1990s, Noval changed ownership for only the second time in its three-hundred year history and began a massive program of improvements while re-committing to the traditional, and best, methods of port production.
Tasting notes
An intense brick color, it has a complex nose showing youthful fruit with raspberry character. On the palate it is medium sweet, with well-balanced fruit and richness.
Vineyard
Tinta Roriz, Touriga Francesca and Tinta Barroca are the major grape varieties, all from traditional, "A" category suppliers.
Vinification
The Quinta do Noval Fine Ruby is vinified by pump-over in stainless steel, and then aged 2 to 3 years in big oak vats.
Wine
Lighter and softer than the Fine Ruby, Noval's Tawny Port is an elegant, delicate wine with an amber hue and a fresh finish.
