Reviews

Jeb Dunnuck 90

Pouring a transparent red-orange hue, the 2023 Rosso Di Montalcino opens with a bright, fruity nose of mixed berries, peach, fresh herbs, and fresh flowers. The palate is medium-bodied and refreshing, with vibrant red fruit, ripe tannins, and mouthwatering acidity that carries through the clean finish. It's a very attractive Rosso to drink over the next 4-5 years.

James Suckling 91

A bright, overt wine, showing raspberries, roses and fruit sweetness on the medium-bodied palate, with crisp acidity and woven, velvety tannins. Lifted finish.

Vinous Media 91

The 2023 Rosso di Montalcino has a perfumed bouquet of crushed blackberries, lavender and wet stone. It's soft and round, with ripe red and blue fruits alongside cooling acidity. The finish leaves a chewy concentration, violet inner florals and a mineral crunch.

Technical Details

Estate

Mastrojanni has been writing history with its wines since 1975, collecting awards from all over the world. Today, thanks to an exceptional terroir and men who have believed in it for decades, Mastrojanni has become one of the most respected Montalcino producers. The Mastrojanni winery lies in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the south eastern most corner of Montalcino Municipality, in the Province of Siena. An artistic and architectural heritage, surrounded by the majesty of its natural landscapes and, above all, an area particularly suitable for vine cultivation: the homeland of Brunello.

Tasting notes

Bright ruby red with purple streaks, nicely intense and vivacious. The nose is characterized by an intriguing youthful classicism, featuring fragrant and juicy sour cherry. The palate is intense on entry with a pleasantly tannic and savoury ending. Pairs with all courses of a meal, the perfect enhancement for grilled red meats.
