The 2022 Villa Donoratico pours a dark magenta/red color and is ripe with aromas of baked red plum, leather, autumn leaves, and balsamic herbs. It is fleshy and full on the palate, with plush, ripe tannins, even acidity, and a balanced richness through the finish. This hearty wine is also showing well now, and I would prefer to drink it over the next 8-10 years.

I like the currant and tar aromas with some bayleaf that follow through to a medium body, with creamy and polished tannins that give this depth and intensity. Very polished palate. Drink or hold.

The Argentiera 2022 Bolgheri Rosso Villa Donoratico is rich and velvety on first inspection, with a generous bouquet. The wine shows aromas of black cherry and blackberry preserves. The 2022 growing season was hot, with heat spikes lasting until mid-August. These conditions have created a front-loaded red with a moment of thinness on the mid-palate. Pair it with barbecued meats and ribs.

Aromas of pepper, wet slate tart blackberries and wild fennel swirl together to create a refreshing, invigorating nose. The palate layers more blackberries over black licorice and dark chocolate, before a finish of bitter citrus and tea leaf tang. Very lively acid bounces around taut tannins.
