James Suckling 91
Licorice, star anise and cumin on the nose, alongside black cherries. Smoky hints, too. It's bold, ripe and spicy with full body and broad tannins. Big and chewy. Drink now or hold.

Vinous Media 92
The 2020 Duca Enrico is spicy from the first tilt of the glass, blending medicinal cherries with cedar shavings, cloves and dried violets. This
washes across the palette with silken textures contrasted by a core of zesty acidity. Tart red berry fruits and hints of sour citrus add
tension throughout. It finishes with staining length while mixing savory and sweet as a cascade of spice and licorice slowly taper off. This
energetic Nero d'Avola is a pleasure to taste yet requires a bit of cellaring to integrate its oak.

Wine Enthusiast 92
On the nose, sweet aromas of vanilla, tobacco, blackberry and sugar plum waft above spicy, weightier notes of cinnamon, cardamom and clove. The more decadently sweet palate asserts flavors of macerated blackberries and whipped cream, but passion fruit also brings out the blackberries' tartness, and tannins provide grit.

Wine Spectator 90
There's a ripe, almost jammy quality to the black raspberry, black currant and black cherry fruit flavors, but all are balanced nicely by bright, blood orange peel acidity and savory notes of herbed olive, milled pepper and leather. The fine tannins are creamy on the licorice-laced finish.

Technical Details
Ageing
Fermentation continues with precise maceration and delestage. Once fermentation is complete, the wine remains in contact with the grape skins for a further week. After the first racking, malolactic fermentation takes place in concrete tanks, followed by 14-18 months of ageing in new or second-use, fine-grained and elegantly toasted oak barriques.
Harvest
The grapes were hand-picked from 30 September to 2 October 2020 and transported to the winery in 3 kg crates by refrigerated lorry.
Pairings
It is ideal with grilled and braised red meats and game. It is excellent with medium and mature cheeses.
Tasting Notes
Duca Enrico, vibrant red in colour with purple tinges, stands out for its complexity and elegance. The citrus notes of blood orange and spices are complemented on the nose by hints of red berries, which are due to ageing in barriques. It is vertical on the palate, with sweet, enveloping tannins and a lingering finish.
Vinification
After the crates have been unloaded, the grapes are sorted on a conveyor belt. After the grapes have been destemmed, they are taken to the fermentation vessel where alcoholic fermentation begins at a controlled temperature of 26-28C, while the pulp and skins undergo maceration.
