Reviews
Robert Parker 97
The Tenuta Argentiera 2016 Ventaglio is simply gorgeous, with a sharp and linear quality of fruit that embraces spice, dried blackberry, rosemary and crushed stone. When I first reviewed this wine a few years back, I wrote, "If there is a heaven where grapevines live, the Ventaglio vineyard may just be it."

Wine Spectator 95
This red has a lot going on, featuring intense, saturated flavors of black cherry, plum, fig, wild rosemary and iron, with a vibrant, dense structure. Balanced, with a long, resonant finish. Cabernet Franc.

Description
The Shape of Perfection: Ventaglio represents the best of Tenuta Argentiera’s production, a limited edition produced only in truly exceptional years. From a stunning small hilltop in the shape of a fan (“Ventaglio” in Italian) and positioned around a solitary oak tree, Ventaglio is the estate’s first single vineyard wine. An iconic label with undeniable complexity, balance and elegance that showcases the beauty of Cabernet Franc from Bolgheri.
Estate
Tenuta Argentiera stands in a magnificent patch of land in the Maremma that blends countryside and sea, suspended between woods and Mediterranean scrub. The Argentiera estate covers 75 hectares of breathtakingly beautiful Tuscan coast, approximately 100 km southwest of Florence. In the prestigious DOC of Bolgheri, Argentiera is the estate closest to the sea and also highest in altitude, making the land and microclimate especially well-suited to growing incredible red grapes. The estate is considered among the most beautiful in Italy, with its spectacular view of the islands of the Tuscan archipelago.
Vinification
Only grapes from the most best plots of the Ventaglio vineyard are harvested by hand in crates and selected on two sorting tables. Whole grapes fall by gravity into two small cone shaped tanks made of French oak, where they are fermented on the skins, alternating daily pumping over and manual punching down of the cap for 25 days at a controlled temperature of 82-86° F. The wine is then transferred into barriques and larger tonneau barrels made from French and Austrian oak, some of which are new, where it undergoes malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged 18-24 months in oak for prior to bottling.
