The old vine cuvee from this notable estate shows a touch more density and depth, but certainly in the same style as the classic cuvee with its pretty, pure, floral character. Black raspberries, sappy spring flowers, and peppery nuances all shine from the 2023 Chateauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes Elisabeth Chambellan, which is based on 88% Grenache, 10% Syrah, and 2% Mourvedre and aged 11 months in a mix of foudre, stainless steel tanks, and concrete. It's medium-bodied, has a layered, seamless mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. Drink this complex, nuanced, beautifully polished wine over the coming 10-15 years.
