Estate
After more than 160 years, Ogier has grown to become one of the leading producers in the Rhône Valley. Most of its land holdings are in the Southern Rhône area producing wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Lirac. The Estate also makes small but exceptional bottlings from parcels within the most notable appellations of the Northern Rhône - Crozes-Hermitage and Côte Rôtie. Ogier’s wines are an ode to finesse, elegance and freshness.
Tasting notes
Nose of a beautiful complexity combining licorice, prune, raisin, mocha, cocoa, spices and leather on a background of red fruit. A few notes of undergrowth and smoke emphasize the breeding. The mouth is structured and powerful but keeps the freshness typical of wines vinified in whole cluster. It is therefore complexity, finesse, structure and an incredible length in the mouth that will accompany your meals.
Vinification
20% of the Grenache of the vintage were vinified in whole cluster, the rest was completely scratched but very little trampled. A very light Sulphur allows a start of the fermentation in less than 24 hours. The extraction took place by pumping over, the tannins, which were simple to extract, did not need violent extraction methods. The fermentation ranges from 21 to 36 days depending on the lots. The presses were partially filtered during the winter and aged separately and assembled in early Spring. Aged 12 months in large oak barrels.
