Reviews

James Suckling 93

A succulent, delicious and precise brut rose, made of chardonnay, pinot meunier and pinot noir. It has notes of wild currants, peach skin and mild spices. It's medium-bodied and vivid with fine bubbles and plenty of succulence. Sour cherries and redcurrants on the palate. Fresh acidity and a comforting, fruity character to the delicious finish.

Vinous Media 91

The NV Brut Rose (base 2019) is perfumed and nicely lifted. Crushed rocks, orange peel, grapefruit, jasmine and white pepper abound. The Rose is quite attractive but strikes me as a bit light and ethereal. It's wiry and nervy, but also possesses good energy. This edition is a bit shy today, but time in the glass brings out its inner sweetness and mid-palate pliancy. Reserve wines back to 2014 (43%) round out the blend. Dosage is 5.1 grams per liter. Disgorged: fourth trimester 2022.

Wine Advocate 92

Aromas of rose, peony, red berries and guava preface the NV Brut Rose, a medium to full-bodied, elegant and vinous Champagne rose that concludes with a long, ethereal finish enhanced by menthol notes. A blend of 45% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, it's based on the 2014 vintage with 46% vins de reserve from nine different vintages and the addition of 6% as a red wine, vinified and matured in stainless steel. Dosage: 4.7 grams per liter.

Wine Enthusiast 91

A floral aroma and rich citrus and raspberry flavors mark this full-bodied rose Champagne. Its crispness comes from the taut minerality and lemon acidity at the end.

Wine Spectator 92

A seamlessly knit rose Champagne, integrating a vivid backbone of acidity and a lightly chalky underpinning with the fine, detailed perlage. Offers notes of nectarine, white cherry, toast point and orchard blossom. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

Technical Details

Estate

The Champagnes of Maison Billecart-Salmon are above all created thanks to the knowledge of the men who rigorously cultivate an estate of 100 hectares, obtaining grapes from an area totaling 300 hectares across 40 crus of the Champagne region. The majority of the grapes used for vinification come from a radius of 20km around Epernay, where the Grand Crus of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay co-exist, in the ethereal vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs.

Food pairing

It is the best accompaniment to any happy occasion, but also with a fillet of wild salmon or a carpaccio of langoustines. In terms of desserts, it will enhance the flavors of red fruits with an acidic crunch and only lightly sweetened. Serve at a temperature between 8 and 9 degrees celcius.

Tasting notes

With its subtle and gourmand aromas, this cuvee provides a reference point amongst rose champagnes. It will bring real pleasure to your happiest moments with its sparkling color, amazing finesse and great intensity.
An outstanding tactile sensation with a creamy smoothness, which evolves into a very noble option with a character of wild strawberries and a slightly aspberry finish. A harmonious and delicious equilibrium with a remarkable precision.
