Reviews

Wine Enthusiast 90

With its ripe texture and delicious red-fruit flavor, this wine has a tangy mineral edge and a fine balance. It offers softness (because of that balance) that veers towards dry. It is a fine apéritif style, rich and ready to drink.

Wine Spectator 90

A firm, tangy rose Champagne, with a lively bead, this offers flavors of pink grapefruit sorbet, blood orange and dried thyme, showing a subtle streak of smoky mineral that lingers on the finish.

Wine Advocate 91

The latest release of the NV Brut Rose is based on the 2015 vintage and was disgorged with 8.5 grams per liter dosage. Bursting with aromas of red berries, freshly baked bread, pomelo and peach, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with racy acids, pretty fruit tones and a youthfully frothy mousse.

Technical Details

Description

An iconic Brut Rose for good reason. Pale salmon in color (of course), full of melon and faintly floral notes, this is around 45% Chardonnay, and the remaining 55% is comprised of Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. Dosage here is a modest 7 grams per liter of sugar, keeping things dry and crisp. One of the reasons Billecart rosé is so popular today is because they were one of the first houses to really focus on that style, back in 1954.

Estate

The Champagnes of Maison Billecart-Salmon are above all created thanks to the knowledge of the men who rigorously cultivate an estate of 100 hectares, obtaining grapes from an area totaling 300 hectares across 40 crus of the Champagne region. The majority of the grapes used for vinification come from a radius of 20km around Epernay, where the Grand Crus of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay co-exist, in the ethereal vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs.

Tasting notes

A pale yet radiant pink colour adorned with warm glints of gold. This cuvée unveils a subtle aroma leading to an elegant, delicate bouquet of fine notes of red berries and zest of citrus fruits. Its special method of vinification gives this cuvée a light, elegant flavor, followed by a fresh finish with a taste of raspberry. This cuvée is an ideal partner as an aperitif and can also accompany a dish of wild salmon or sushi. For dessert, it will add a sublime touch to red fruit flavors.
