          Estate
Paul-Joseph Cyrot, at the time director of the Château de Pommard and Clos de Tart Morey-Saint-Denis, founded this estate in the 1920s. Four generations have followed each other since, at the Domaine, each bringing new parcels of vines: Burgundy, Volnay, Maranges 1er Cru, Santenay 1er Cru, Pommard and Pommard 1er Cru, an exceptional terroir for Pinot Noir. In 1989, Olivier, his great-grandson, took over the estate. With his wife Fabienne, they manage the 6 ha family estate. Cyrot-Buthiau's small terraced vineyards are meticulously tended by the award-winning winemaker and owner.

          Tasting notes
Deep red in the glass with a pronounced bouquet of red fruit, violets and earth. Medium bodied, with good depth of fruit, firm tannins and energy on the palate. Great length.

          Vinification
Pommard is a commune appellation with many 1er cru sites and making only red wines. The Pinot Noir grapes for Cyrot-Buthiau Pommard are on average 40 years old and grow on clay-limestone soil, hand harvested and fermented in oak for 15 to 18 days. The wine is aged for 12 to 14 months in oak (20% new) and bottled after a light filtration.
