Reviews

James Suckling 95

A very generous and mouth-filling wine with super-ripe mirabelle, the fine tannins and delicate minerality beautifully interwoven into that. Great concentration and not a jot too rich. Very long and graceful finish with a lot of complexity. Drink or hold.

Wine Advocate 93

The 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Goutte d'Or exhibits aromas of pear, toasted nuts, beeswax and apple blossom, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping palate with a satiny attack, lively acids and spice-inflected finish. It's one of the highlights of the range this year.

Wine Enthusiast 93

Delicate and floral, the nose is effortlessly inviting- an ethereal burst of citrus and orchard fruit, gently intertwined with hints of straw and a subtle touch of vanilla. The palate is beautifully textured, revealing layers of peach blossom and citrus oil, with an underlying depth waiting to unfold. A lingering finish of saline-stone adds finesse, making it an exceptional pairing companion.

Technical Details

Description

Situated just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Cote de Beaune, Meursault is the most extensive southerly white wine commune of the Cote-d'Or. Meursault << Goutte d'Or >> is the first Premier Cru found when leaving the village in the direction of Puligny-Montrachet. The parcel of vines was given this name ('drop of gold') because of the quantity of flint in the soil. These flints have both the shape and colour of ‘drops of gold'. Entirely like the drops of wine which this land produces! The wine itself is all one would expect it to be with a powerful nose and rich palate. The wine prefered by Thomas Jefferson.
