Description
The family's Chassagne-Montrachet 'La Grande Montagne' is made from very old vines from their parcel within this very small vineyard. This premier cru is located on the steep hillside of the same name, just west of Chassagne-Montrachet amid limestone hills. A steeply sloping, east-facing vineyard just north of the premier cru vineyards of La Romanée and Les Grandes Ruchottes, La Grande Montagne is a hidden treasure, only accessible by a small dirt path, situated right at the top of the slope of the Montagne de Chassagne. It sits at an altitude of 310 meters and is only 0.5 hectares in size.
Tasting notes
Look for delightful aromas and flavors of almonds, ripe pears, clementine's, flowers and stony minerals. The mouth is ample, rich and harmoniously combines fruit, brioche, honey and almond perfumes. Serve with luscious shellfish, white fish, chicken and cordon bleu, or with creamy cow's milk cheeses.
Estate
For four generations, the domaine of Bachelet-Ramonet has been located in the heart of the Côte d'Or, south of the Côte de Beaune, in the town of Chassagne-Montrachet. This famous village is one of five villages considered to be the 'Côte des Blancs', a strip of land considered to be the best place on earth for white wine, with an international reputation for excellence.
