Earth, Wind and Fire
After a difficult flowering mainly on the old early Merlot, the conditions Favorable climatic conditions in July, are not sufficient to compensate for the Phenology of the grapes. As at Pauillac, the grape harvests are so late. Our objective is to accompany the harvest to an optimum maturity. Attention During the veraison phase on thinning:
Mature or overgrown clusters and aeration of cluster bundles in the feet too Loaded.
The yields are in the average of the vintage: 34hl / ha, and the incubation shows Alcoholic degrees above 12% Vol. Built on beautiful acidities. After numerous maturity checks, the grape harvest begins on October 3 Fast pace that allows us to pick the most fragile plots in a good state And to conclude on 14 October.

Vintage
A contrasting winter followed by a rainy and fresh spring did not succeed in bridging the water deficit that has accumulated over the past few seasons. A dry and warm climate with some strong thermal amplitudes is established between July 15 and September 24. The drought continues to grow. This particular climatic context locally generates blockages leading to disparities in maturity with small berries.
The vegetative cycle of the vineyard of Saint-Estèphe knows from the blooming one week of delay compared to that of Pauillac. Our soils, composed of deep gravels mixed with a good clay foundation, mitigate the negative effect of a large water deficit. They thus allow a gradual maturation of the grapes.
The Merlot harvest lasts four and a half days from 4 October. The harvest will end on 18 October in rainy climatic conditions.
The vintage 2012 offers mature and balanced wines in a classical style with a particularly appreciable tannic structure.
