Tasting notes
Chateau Croix Cardinale is produced from vines that are an average of 40 years old. They border onto the vines at Chateau Fleur Cardinale and are planted on a single holding vineyard. The wine produced here is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc.
This Saint-Emilion Grand Cru is made into wine and then matured in cellars that have been fully renovated using environmentally friendly principles. The techniques that we use for the Chateau Croix Cardinale are similar to those used for the Chateau Fleur Cardinale: careful management on the vine, manual harvesting of the grapes into small crates at the point of optimal grape maturity, grape-sorting by densimetry, and vinification in 100% new French oak barrels.
Chateau Croix Cardinale is a wine for laying down that is opulent, rich and moderately tannic with a voluptuous black fruit aroma.
