Estate

Owned by Stephan von Neipperg, Chateau d'Aiguilhe is located on hills overlooking the Right Bank of the Dordogne River, on the border between the Cates de Castillon and Saint-Emilion appellations.
This 110 hectare estate has 50 hectares of vines, which are planted exclusively on the upper part of the hills. The vineyard has excellent natural drainage and south-facing sun exposure.
The thin layer of clay-limestone and clay- silt topsoil covers a layer of rather meagre soil on a limestone substratum. This terroir provides wonderful hydric regulation all year round and, combined with vines an average of 28 years old, produces outstanding grapes.

History

Members of the Franconian aristocracy with a long political and agricultural tradition, the Counts von Neipperg family line can be traced back to the 12th century. Representing some eight centuries of winegrowing and winemaking experience, today Count Stephan von Neipperg manages the 9 family-owned estates, 4 of which are in Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux: Château Canon La Gaffelière, La Mondotte, Clos de l’Oratoire, Château Peyreau.

Second label of Château d’Aiguilhe, owned by Stephan Von Neipperg (owner of Château Canon La Gaffelière, St Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé). This estate dates from the 13th Century and is located on top of the hills overlooking the Right Bank of the Dordogne River, on the border between the Côtes de Castillon and Saint-Emilion appellations. The wine offers crushed blackberry and cherry notes on the nose followed by a jammy and fresh texture on the palate. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc.
